By Christa M. I think we need to take a stand Looking at those sanders and drill In spite of all my childish fears So I feel I must endure
Poetry by Mary Ann L. Illustrated by Amanda S. Heart I wish that I could have a heart, Love People are eager to love, Who Cares? I feel...that I am a person who cares, but nobody likes to care. The person who tears is the one who cares. The soul that protects is the guardianship of the angel that cares. Whos is there to care, when the tear is there? His Short Life He was great in his genius, unhappy in his life. Wretched in his death, but in his fame he is immortal.

Paul is dead? By Julie D. and Leslie W. James Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool, England, on June 18, 1942. Young James preferred his middle name, so everyone called him "Paul." His mother's name was Mary, and she was a maternity nurse, while his father, Jim, was a musician/cotton salesman. McCartney played the trumpet for a while, but he couldn't sing and play at the same, and the trumpet made his lips hurt, so he decided to learn a different instrument. When McCartney was fifteen, he received his first guitar, but there was a problem. His new guitar was a right-handed guitar, and he was left-handed, so he played it upside-down. McCartney was happy because he could now sing and play the guitar. Over time, he also learned to play the flute and the piano. The first band McCartney was in was the "Quarrymen," along with John Lennon, George Harrison, Pete Best, and Stuart Sutcliff. He played the lead and rhythm guitars. The band soon became the "Silver Beetles." Finally, the band became the Beatles, when Sutcliff died of a brain hemorrhage, and Best was replaced by Richard Starkey, a.k.a. Ringo Starr. While the Beatles were a group, everyone knew McCartney as the "cute one." The Beatles had the #1 hits "Love Me Do" and " Please, Please Me" in 1962. In 1963, the Beatles sold more than 100 million singles. In 1970, the Beatles disbanded and each of the quartet went their separate ways. Paul formed a band, "Wings," with his wife, Linda Eastman. Paul made 23 albums in his non-Beatle career. Paul and Linda had 4 children. The oldest one, Heather, was from Linda's previous marriage. Then came Mary, followed by Stella and then James. Many rumors have circulated about McCartney's "death." There is a theory that McCartney died in a car crash in November 1966. Some people believe that the Paul McCartney of today is an impostor. Even though these rumors persist, there is no proof. Paul is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being a successful musician and for selling billions of albums.

DUKE NUKEM 3-D REVIEW By Roy S. "Piece of cake!" That is what Duke Nukem says after he blows up an alien. This game is the best, and it totally beats all the competition. Its graphics rock, the gore is almost too gory, and it also has some little surprises. This game is recommended for those people who like to blow up, destroy, and crack up on screen. The detail in this game is outstanding. When you shoot at the wall bullet holes appear, and when you blow an alien up, his head comes off, his body parts go flying and there is a pool of blood that you can step in and make footprints. Now you tell me what kind of game can do that. The sounds are great. When you walk up to a computer you can hear it work, each time he kills someone he says something cool. Doom doesnt do that. The game play is kind of confusing, but when you get the hang of it, its easy. Unlike other games, Duke has weapons including his feet and a shrinking device which is unbelievable. For those who have trouble with this game here are some cheat codes: dnkroz (God Mode), dnstuff (all weapons), dnclip (walk through walls), and dnmonsters (monsters disappear). I recommend you get this game. Overall rating: 4 of 5 Sound rating: 4 Gameplay: 3 S.R.P. $29.99
QUAKE By Mark L. and Eric T. Quake is (in our opinion) the best game out for the computer. It is made by the creators of Doom and Doom 2. You can play against the computer or against other people. You can play over the internet, the modem, LAN, or serial connection. Quake is a very bloody, graphic game. The graphics are great. The sound is better if you play with headphones on. No matter how you play, Quake is a great game. Rating - 9 S.R.P. $29.99
FINAL FANTASY VII By Kurt M. The Final Fantasy series has always provided quality gaming, and the latest addition to the Final Fantasy family is certainly no exception. With stunning graphics, flawless gameplay, and an intriguing story, Final Fantasy VII is likely to quench all gamers thirst. Much of the reason for the improved gameplay are the greatly enhanced battles. In such games as Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger, fighting was often boring and monotonous, but with the new fighting system ATB (Active Time Battles) the fighting sequences are very fluid and most action fans will not be disappointed (dont worry traditional RPG fans, you can also play with the old turn-style battles). The cinematic scenes are also very nice, providing some of the best visuals seen on any platform. Personally, I am not an RPG fan, but I give this game such high marks because it is such an excellent game. This game is a must-buy if you are a RPG connoisseur, and I strongly advise all Playstation owners to try this game too. Overall Rating: 90% Graphics: 10 Sound: 8 Play Control: 8 Gameplay: 10 Fun Factor: 9 S.R.P. $49.95 1 player 3 discs Replay Value (three being the highest) 1 2 3 Challenge: advanced
GOLDENEYE 007 By Kurt M. Goldeneye 007 for the N64 is a Quake-esque corridor shooter, that, unlike other first-person games such as Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, features mission objective that you must complete in order to successfully exit the stage. 007 has a vast array of weapons, ranging from sniper rifles to proximity mines. The game has a total of twenty stages in the one-player mode, and there are eleven different available arenas in the multiplayer game. Also in the multiplayer mode, you can choose from 33 possible characters from other James Bond movies. Speaking of the multiplayer game, I think that it is so awesome it is reason enough to by the game. I definitely recommend this game if you are a N64 owner. Overall Rating: 96% (out of 100) Graphics: 10 Sound: 10 Play Control: 9 Gameplay: 9 Fun Factor: 10 S.R.P. $69.95 ($59.99 at Toys R Us) 4 players 96 megabits Replay Value (three being the highest) 1 2 3 Challenge: adjustable
DARK FORCES By Bob K. and Ed F. Dark Forces is an exciting Star Wars game that has excellent graphics, sound, and details. In this role-playing game, you are Rebel agent Kyle Katarn who must battle hordes of Stormtroopers, robots and aliens to destroy the Empire's most advanced weapon yet, the Dark Trooper. Don't worry Star Wars' fans, the game is accurate to every detail of the movies and books. The controls are easier to learn than in most games, and the weapons vary throughout the course of the game, which makes it more interesting to play. Some useful cheat codes for the game include LACDS-Map Supermode, LAMAXOUT-Max out all items, LARANDY-Weapon super charge, and LAREDLITE-Freezes enemies. The game costs $40, about the average for a decent PC game, and is widely available. There are also inexpensive books (around $10) available with hints for the game. |
