By Bryan C. Do you ever think that our lockers are way too skinny? Well I do. I think that our school should get new lockers. It doesnt seem fair to me that we have to deal with decreasing the size of our backpacks if we want to put it in our lockers before lunch. Besides, we still have to deal with putting our books, and other materials in too. I hope that the student council will have a meeting to talk about getting new lockers. I think this change can make a day at school much easier.
DVS retaliates with higher prices By Scott P. Kudos to our President and Vice-President for finally getting pop in the machines downstairs. Nothing has caffeine in it, but beggars can't be choosers. However, DVS, the company which leases Peacock the machines, has retaliated with higher prices in the refrigerated machine. At least they didn't raise candy prices. Not that it matters. The machine rarely works anyway. Dr. Nickisch was unaware of the change. A call was placed. DVS has now been notified and will call back. Or so they say. At printing, no call has yet been received. Furthermore, it seems like the shelves get empty pretty quickly, and they stay that way. Plus, a classmate (Jeff R.) has noted the quality or lack there of, of the food in the machines. The pizza with artificial cheese is bad enough. But Jeff noticed a chunk was taken out of one of the muffins. Just a question - why do they put breakfast food in the machines? I quote the Student Handbook (pg. 5 in our assignment notebook) says "Students are expected to eat...during their assigned period. No eating of food will be allowed at other times of the day unless there are special events scheduled." Translation: You can't eat breakfast, unless it's during your lunch period. It just doesn't make sense. But, there is some good news. Dr. Nickisch is proud to report that the school has requested a five-dollar bill changer. Maybe, if we're lucky, it will be installed by the beginning of the next school year.
By Emily S. I think Peacock needs a change. Ive had the idea since last year to move all the kids who go to our school to each separate level of the building. We could move the sixth grade to the basement, the seventh graders to the middle floor and the eighth graders to the top floor. Not only will it make it easier for the kids but it will make it easier for the schedules. With this scheme in place, it will help other things as well, including locker problems. With the three minutes you have to get to the next class you can go to your locker with no problems. Unless you are a slacker, you would be fine. It would also help with heavy backpacks. Who needs to be lugging around a heavy backpack? Statistics say a heavy back pack can ruin your back. This problem would be solved if you could go to your locker and put your books away. Also, lunch wouldnt be that much of a problem because we could use the same lunch schedules. The only problem is that there would be a noise level while everyone eats.
Eighth Graders Voice Their Opinion On Marilyn Mansons Visit to Chicago! By Christina S.
Marilyn Manson scares me and when he comes to Chicago I WILL NOT BE THERE. I am not the slightest bit of a fan. I really dont care. If people are willing to see him I cant see why people should complain. If some people feel that they need to see him/her (I dont know
whatever its called) then that is fine with me. Personally I dont really like him, but he has the right to do whatever he wants to do. If he does do something too obscene then I would be against it. But I do find him to be quite interesting. I dont care-its none of my business. I try not to pay attention to what he does. In my opinion though, he only has one good song. Its fine for those who are mature fans of the group. I dont really care. If people like their music then let them go. Whatever he does in his spare time is his own business and no one elses. |
