Student surfs cool website

By: Kyle A.

Yahooilgans for Kids is a web site well worth checking out. Yahooligans has Sports, School stuff, Entertainment, etc., you can find just about anything. One of the categories is "Games and Computers," and in that it shows screensavers which include, "Olympics of the Imagaintion," "Titanic Sinks" and "Mysteries." Games include Ward Interactive and Goobo Works.
Another interesting site is called "Someone in Time." Every month, the Discovery Channel Online has a "mystery history guest." You look at clues and figure out who that historically significant person is. You can find these and much more at http://www.yahoolgans.com. Wherever you are in Yahooligans you will have fun for sure. You can get help with homework if you need to, check out the space site or get the scoop on world events, books, food, or whatever your interests may be. They also have jokes,
as lame as this one:
Q. Why were the teacher's eyes crossed?
A. She couldn't control her pupils.
So have some fun.

Nascar 99 For Nintendo 64

By Alex J.

Nintendo 64 has finally made a Nascar racing game. You get behind the wheel of a Nascar stock car as superstars Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett, Terry Labonte, Dale Earnhardt among others. You race at official Nascar tracks such as Charlotte, Richmond, Talladega, and "the bullring," formally known as Bristol.
Nascar 99 has several great features, including Championship mode with season points tracking, and night racing. You can also choose to race a quick race, single race, or a Championship season. The graphics are excellent and the fury of Nascar competition is amazing.
If you wish to save your season, you need a control pack. With a control pack, you can choose your driver, and the track you want to race at. Other options allow you to choose damage, difficulty and car setup, settings. You decide whether it is a qualifying race, or just a practice run. You can also decide on the length of the race. Finally, a special feature lets you race as past legends, Cale Yarborough and "the king," Richard Petty.

Theater revival livens up the Loop

By Michael M.

The Ford Center for the Performing Arts (formerly the Oriental Movie Palace) has been renovated, and will re-open in downtown Chicago on November 8, 1998. The premier attraction is Ragtime, an American musical based on E. L. Doctorow's novel of a changing America at the turn of the century. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the theater on October 13. Ragtime will begin preview showings on October 27, and officially open on November 8. With the Chicago and Shubert Theaters booking touring theater and dance shows this fall, there will be three Loop houses in action. This will give hoped-for rebirth to the Loop area.
Before the movie, Titanic, there was a 1997 Tony-Winning Broadway Musical. Titanic the musical will arrive at the Civic Opera House on April 22, 1999. Of course, there is no water on stage, and the touring production's scenery has been slightly reduced from the huge Broadway original. There will still be many neat special effects, however, and that pesky iceberg will also app

Staring down at the ground
People have begun their runaround
She's feeling down
Going earthbound

The crowd has turned
They have lived and learned
Almost have earned
Their right to yearn

Millions of faces
Standing on their bases
Fearing disgrace
Waiting for an embrace
They are all out of place

Fox leads the way with new sitcoms

By Tristan B.

Out of all the networks that are producing new television shows, Fox is by far making more than anyone. Part of the reason for this is that most of them don't last past the first season. One thing that gets on my nerves is that when you watch them long enough, you grow attached to one or two. Then, all of a sudden, the shows you've been watching get canceled. Now, in hopes of keeping our emotions intact, we shall go through a list of new shows to determine which will stay and which will go. Keep in mind that all of these shows are meant for an age group of 12 and up.
First, there is Yhe 70's Show, a delightful comedy with lame, and yet on occasion, slightly funny jokes. Everyone likes a few good jokes about the 1970's, but this show will not last to the end of the season. So, on a scale of 1-6, I give it about a 3.4.
Next up is Costello, a story about a sassy, young (mid-twenties) woman who has just broken up with her fiancé and is trying to make sense of her life. Now, this doesn't sound like a cheesy Fox comedy, but you haven't heard all of it yet. Let's just say that Costello is not the most feminine woman in the world. Soft and fragile is definitely not her cup of tea. The rating on the cheese-o-meter is about a 4.5.

In the basement there are 3 light switches in the off position. Each switch controls 1 of 3 light bulbs on the floor above. You may move any of the switches, but you may only go up stairs one time. How can you determine which switch controls each light?
