Olive Garden has great food, but...
By Ashley S.,
Op-Ed Editor

The Olive Garden, 1925 Golf Road, Schaumburg, IL - it seems like a nice place on the outside, but inside it's a different story.
The food's great, the waiters are nice, what more could you want? Well, getting seated before an hour has passed would be nice!
Ok, so our party was a little large, and it was the Saturday before Valentine's Day, but it was my birthday and they really should take reservations.
It would also be nice if they had a little more room to sit and wait. There were only a couple of chairs. It was so boring just standing there, but in the end, it was worth it.
The Olive Garden's food was great and the place was decorated nicely, with lots of plants and fake food (anyone want a plastic grape?). The menu was a little pricey, however, but not unreasonable.
All in all, The Olive Garden was a very nice pla… wait a second, I forgot about the singing waiters who come up from behind you with a cake. That is really nice, just a little embarrassing.
This is great place for a family dinner or a small party. Make sure you don't go right before a holiday with more than five people or you'll wait for a long time. Olive Garden, great service, great food, I give it two forks up!
Food: 5
Atmosphere: 5
Service: 5
Cleanliness: 5
Value for Money: 5 (You get a lot of food for your money.)
Kid Friendliness: 4 (It's more of an adult place so don't act juvenile if you go there.)
Overall Experience: 4 (They get a point off for the singing.)

Following up on the X Files: from our secret source
By Allyssa J.

The saga continues when a little girl is kidnapped in much the same fashion as Mulder's sister, Samantha. Mulder starts personalizing the case and eventually finds out, finally, that his sister really is dead.
This was the most depressing episode I personally have ever seen. The sequences where the children got out of the graves and when the little boy led Mulder around were SO sad.
The duo's next case was about fear in a town in California. Mulder and Scully were on a case with many unexpected twists and with a camera crew of COPS watching their every move.
Scully and Mulder were then contacted by the lone gunmen about a realistic video game that has a woman character in it who keeps killing the players in the game and in real life. Let's just say Mulder and Scully played a little game in this one.
Alas, as good as the two episodes about Mulder's sister, Samantha, were, they were not a good sign for the future of the series. In all likelihood, this is the last season for the X Files. That's because Mulder's sister's abduction was the main thing pushing him to pursue the X Files.
At the back of his mind, Mulder was always hoping to find her, but now he knows that she is dead. He has no reason to follow the X Files anymore. He may still have conspiracies to reveal, but he doesn't have to go on.
Till next time, keep watching those X Files.

Who wants to be a millionaire? Really?
By Kyle A.

Is that your final answer? You know it, it's ABC's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with the host Regis Philbin. The show originally came from Great Britain, and no one has yet won the million over there. But it is still one of the biggest hits there.
Here in the Untied States, however, New York City to be precise, we have two millionaires so far, John Carpenter and Dan Blonsky.
Both are very good players but when John Carpenter used one of his lifelines to call his dad he said "Hi Dad, I don't really need your help I just wanted to let you know that I am going to win one million dollars." I was shocked. John used that lifeline, but I really don't think that he used that lifeline.
As of February 23, 2000, $10,789,000 dollars have been given away. My sister Kali (9) said, "I think it's an educational show because you learn new things about all different kinds of things." But my brother Cody (5) said "It's cool because people win money."
The show is on Sunday, Tuesday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's. I think you should watch the show.

Hanging up
And you think you're stressed?
By Missy W.

This is a new dramatic comedy about three sisters, Eve, Georgia, and Madie, and their complicated lives and problems.
Madie is an actress. Georgia is the editor of a huge magazine named after her, and Eve is a planner of big parties. Their father is sick and divorced, and Eve is the only one who visits him in the hospital.
Eve is planning a party for people who now want to change the location of it. They also want her sister Georgia to run the party and Eve doesn't like that suggestion. Eve is so stressed out that she gets into a car accident.
Adding to the confusion, Madie's dog is sick and needs pills three times a day so she drops him off at Eve's house. The day before the party, Eve is so tense that she takes out all of the phones!
The day of the party, Georgia is surrounded by people who love her work. Eve wants attention, but can't get it with eveyone focusing on Georgia.
Georgia gives a great speech about our elders and how they are good people. Eve and Madie are not impressed. Eve is mad because Georgia copied off of her. Then the sisters get into a huge fight.
While the sisters are in the middle of their fight, doctors tell Eve that her father is in a coma. After the sisters arrive at the hospital, they start the fight again and then their father says one last word and dies. But the sisters still get together and have fun on Thanksgiving.
I recommend this funny look at sisters and their relationships.

Drowning Mona, or is it Ruthless People 2?
By Carl L.

Veteran actress, Bette Midler plays Mona, an extremely unlikable citizen who dies after her Yugo plunges of a cliff and into the Hudson River. After her car is pulled out of the river, the police discover that her brakes cables were cut.
Although no one seems to care about her, it is up to the police chief (Danny DeVito) to discover the killer. Everyone in town is accused of her murderbut who actually did it...The question throughout the movie is not who done it, but who wouldn't...
Drowning Mona is well casted and written with a kind of a curve in the plot where you think they have found the killer. The main plot of the story, however, is strikingly similar to Ruthless People, another DeVito flick. Nevertheless the movie does have its good points. It's funny..it keeps you guessing who really did do it
Rated PG-13

Life is bright for singing sensation, Macy Gray
By Brittany B.,
Entertainment Editor

2000 has been an eventful year. The Y2K problem died out, and people are once again focusing on the important things, such as music. For one artist, this year has been momentous. Macy Gray came onto the scene in mid 1999, with her breakthrough hit, "Do Something."
Since its release date, a little over six months ago, On How Life Is has sold over three million CDs, and received three Grammy nominations. Although Gray didn't win, this was only her first CD!
Gray has been a musical guest on just about every talk show, and she performed to rave reviews on Saturday Night Live.
Her unusual voice and lyrics draw people in-she has even been compared to the legendary jazz vocalist, Billie Holiday.
Gray has said in interviews that her distinctive voice was actually a source of pain in her youth; that she was teased in school for the way she spoke. Who knew then that she'd eventually make a very comfortable living as a singer?
One of the best songs on her CD is the new single "I Try," which includes one of the best heartbreak, romance-sick choruses I've heard in a long time: "I try to say good-bye and I choke. I try to walk away and I stumble. Though I try to hide it, it's clear, my world crumbles when you are not near."
In general, Gray's lyrics rhyme well and are very catchy. I see a great and long musical career in her future.

2GE+HER _ another Blink 182?
By Laise Q.

Is 2GE+HER another Blink 182? Well by the sound of their music, it sure seems like it. The band recently released their first album 2GE+HER MTV's original TV movie.
Their hit single "U + ME=US [I Know My Calculus]" is on MTV's Total Request Live. Their video is as funny as their song. Some other songs on their CD are even funnier then their hit single, "Say it (Don't Spray it)" and "2GE+HER."
The band members are Jerry O'Keefe (Evan Farmer), Q.T. McKnight (Michael Cuccione), Mickey Porks (Alex Solwitz), Chad Linus (Noah Bastian), and Doug Linus (Kevin Farley).
Some people would rather listen to 2GE+HER than The Backstreet Boys or NSYNC. You can buy their CD at any CD store now. Once you have heard them, see if they really do sound like another Blink182.

NFL Blitz 2000
By Michael K.

The year 2000 is here and what better game to play than NFL Blitz 2000. The game is fast paced and fun.
The game format is the same as regular NFL Blitz. There are, for example, no penalties, and you need thirty yards for a first down.
The controls are very easy and it is simple to play. Blitz 2000 is great for multiplayer or just playing by yourself. There are also tournaments and season modes.
Another cool feature is that you can create your own plays for offense and defense. The graphics are a lot better than the original NFL Blitz.
NFL Blitz 2000 is great to rent or borrow for a couple of days because it is so easy to learn. The only downside is that it is not very realistic. An example of this is you need thirty yards for a first down, so there's no point in running the ball. All in all it is an almost flawless game and I recommend it.
Overall Rating: 9
Graphics: 9
Play Controls: 9
Game Play: 8
Fun Factor: 10
Price: $50-60
Number of Players: 4
Difficulty: Easy, Medium, and Hard

Creed's second CD will not disappoint fans
By Alyssa J.

Creed is an awesome band. This quartet from Florida plays semi-hard music with deep lyrics. Their second CD, Human Clay, has produced two hit singles, "Higher" and "What If."
Creed has a very original sound. Scott Strapp provides the vocals, Mark Tremonti plays guitar, Brian Marshall plays bass, and Scott Phillips is the drummer. Strapp and Tremonti write the music and lyrics to the band's songs. I rate this CD a 9.
