Mr. Scaletta speaks of years at Peacock
By Rachel R.
Peacock's eighth-grade math teacher, Mr. Scaletta, was going to become a veterinarian, but he would have had to attend ten years of college. Instead, he decided to become a teacher. He became a teacher for three other good reasons: June, July, and August.
Mr. Scaletta has taught for twenty-five years in Itasca. He has also coached boys softball, and girls and boys basketball.
When he was young, Mr. Scaletta enjoyed math because it came easy to him. He attended to Northern Illinois University.
His best memory at Peacock was when he was hired. He explained, "I was happy that I got a job because it was hard to find one at the time."
He claims he is very serious in class with no joking.
|
Mr. Scaletta's worst memory at Peacock was when the building was under construction and he had to "teach in the dark with lots of noise, dust and dirt."
He commented that the students at Peacock were good students and good people.
In his spare time, Mr. Scaletta likes to watch horse races, football, basketball and baseball. He also likes to play golf, which he has been playing since he was a teen.
He claims that he is very serious in class with no joking. He never wants any fun, and he always keeps the students working. His students may disagree.
Outside of school, Mr. Scaletta lives with his two cats and enjoys listening to blues and rock music.

Marcel M. is going to Poland. He will meet up with family and friends for Christmas, and this is where he lived before he came to America. He also said that when he went to Poland before, he went to "some weird guy's house."
Kenny T. is "chilling at the crib" for Christmas. There he will see his family. He said, "My favorite trip was going to my aunt's house."
Nick P. will be going to his uncle's house for Christmas. He said, "I am not looking forward to this trip." He loves getting money for Christmas.
Some others are going to their grandma's house and also celebrating Chanukah.
