Harry Potter is one of best movies of the season!
By Elysia B.

Harry Potter is an action adventure film that will make you laugh. It is rated PG, but it is not really just for little kids, it's for all ages.
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Robbie Coltrane (Ruebus Hagrid), Rupert Grint (Ronald Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) are just some of the people who play the characters in this magical movie.
You don't have to read the books to understand the plot because the movie pretty much explains itself.
And if you have read the book, don't be afraid the movie might ruin your own images of the characters and scenes you read about. The producer's daughter helped picture out each scene, so it's very close to what is detailed in the book.
There are, however, some differences in the movie from the book. One example is when Harry meets his rival, Draco, in the robe shop. In the movie, he meets Draco at school right before they enter the Great Hall.
Also, the movie cuts out several small, unimportant sections of the book such as when Harry's foster family goes on vacation to try and avoid the aggressive invitations for Harry to attend wizard school.
In the movie, the family never stops at a hotel, but rather goes directly a house on a rock by the sea.
Also, when Hagrid got Norbert the dragon, it was supposed to be taken away by Charlie, but in the movie they neither show it nor mention anything about it.
These changes do not hurt the story and were probably made just to shorten the film.
Overall, Harry Potter is an excellent movie to get in touch with your imagination again and I highly recommend it!

You'll hit a homerun at Ballpark American Rotisserie
By Jackie S.

If you like to have fun, watch sports, play video games, and have great food, Ballpark is the place for you.
Located at 1925 North Meacham Road, Schaumburg, Illinois 60173, Ballmark American Rotisserie has many sporty features. These include tons of televisions, an electronic trivia game, and lots and lots of sport plaques and posters.

You can get anything from salads and hamburgers to ribs and whole chickens.
My family and some friends visited Ballpark on a Friday night in January. Ballpark American Rotisserie is an amazing new place. It used to be called Ron Santo's American Rotisserie after the famous former Cub.
Some reactions of the people with me were, "What good, service," "I want food," "Go, go, go," "Love the food," and "Look how far that ball went!"
The food was very good. You can get anything from salads and hamburgers to ribs and whole chickens. Ballpark is somewhat expensive, but it has great food, service, and "Kid Friendliness."
Ballpark is the best place to go if you like sports. No place can beat it.

Meredith Edwards
By Rena W.

Meredith Edwards is an exciting country singer. There are twelve songs on her new CD, REACH.
Edwards opened for *NYSNC during a recent tour. Because she opened for *NSYNC, many people who never listened to country are learning to like it.
Edwards has known Lance Bass of *NSYNC since they were both eight years old.
"We started singing when we were eight in a group called the Mississippi Show Stoppers," Bass recalled, explaining that the group traveled around the state promoting the Mississippi Agriculture Museum.
They both developed their appreciation for country music growing up in Clinton, Mississippi.
Meredith Edwards' song, "A Rose is a Rose," is currently No.48 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles and Tracks, and is getting played on the country cable TV stations.

A Beautiful Mind inspires
Schizophrenia realistically and sympathetically portrayed
By Paul P.
Op-Ed editor

A Beautiful Mind starring Russell Crowe is the latest in a line of Ron Howard films.
It is the semi-true story of the disturbed genius mathematician, John Nash. It follows his life from his first day at graduate school in the early 50's to the days when he taught at the very same college in the early 90's.
Nash's battle against schizophrenia was portrayed extremely well by Crowe in the sense that he didn't ham it up by yelling and screaming, like so many actors have done in other films
The story was told in the first person from Nash's point of view. Nash's hallucinations are both realistic and mind-bending in the sense that you don't know what is real and what isn't.
A Beautiful Mind co-stars Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, and Paul Bettany. It is inspiring that a man with so much against him won a Nobel Prize and is now hailed as one of the greatest minds in America today.
I thought A Beautiful Mind was great and I wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated for an Academy Award. It has already received the Golden Globe for best drama. Russell Crowe took best actor.
I'd recommend A Beautiful Mind to anyone who likes a good drama.

Shakira rocks
By Cassandra D.

Shakira is a talented Latina singer. She is twenty four years old. She was born in Barranquilla, Drummondmbia in South America.
Shakira released her first album when she was thirteen. Her most recent album is Laundry Service came out in 2001. It features her hit single "Whenever, Wherever" on it. Some of her songs are sung in Spanish, including one version of "Whenever, Wherever."
Shakira's music is very creative and different. It has blends both Latin styles and rock. It is also very good to dance to.
I strongly recommend Laundry Service to anyone who likes to dance or to anyone who likes Latin/rock music.

Halo: combat evolved
For XBOX
By Pat L.

Halo is one of the best video games ever.
It is based in the future and you are a very advanced Cyborg that is programmed to be the best in all forms of combat.
There is an alien race known as the Covenant that is bent on humankind's extermination. They are very advanced and have huge armies of four different species that are mostly warriors.
The Grunts are about five feet tall and pretty weak. They travel in groups or stay close to stronger units.
The Jackals are five feet, eight inches tall and have super senses, so they mostly serve as scouts.
The two strong and tall units are the Elites and the Hunters. The Elites are eight and a half feet tall and are able to rely on brute force if necessary.
The Hunters are twelve feet tall with their fuel rod gun built right into their armor and have a nearly impervious metal shield. They are the rulers of the battlefield.
On your side you have Jacob Keyes, the Captain of the Pillar of Autumn, an advanced space ship, the Marines and Cortana a highly advanced AI, artificial intelligence, which is at the heart of the Pillar of Autumn.
Cortana, the AI, can upload into alien systems and hack in
to their communication systems. She helps you through the game.
The graphics are realistic beyond belief and the storyline is amazing.
You need to be good at video games to beat Halo. I needed a lot of practice and help from the cooperative play to finally beat the machine.

Halo is one of the best video games ever.
You can also compete against your friends in split screenplay.
If you have XBOX, buy Halo. You won't be disappointed.
Game play 10/10
Control play 6/10
Fun factor 9/10
Sound 9/10
Graphics 10/10
Players 4(on council)
S.R.P. $50.00

Smallville
Superman's rocky beginnings
By Sunny B.

It's hard enough being a teen, but a teen with emerging superpowers? Everyone has heard of Superman. But nobody has ever heard the stories of the boy he was before the man he became.
Twelve years ago, a meteor shower struck the small town of Smallville, Kansas, Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha (Annette O'Toole) Kent were driving down a road when the meteor shower hit. On the side of the road, they found something else from space, a package containing a small boy.
Newcomer Tom Welling stars as the teenage hero, Clark Kent. As Clark battles evil, saves civilians, and deals with adolescence, he also has to control his powers.
His powers came from the kryptonite from the meteor shower. The kryptonite changes people, altering their DNA. Since humans can't control their newfound power, they use it for evil. Clark is always around to save others from the evil, by using his lightening fast running ability, or his ability to see through walls.
Lex Luther (Michael Rosenbaum), Clark's future sworn enemy, and now his good friend is always around to help him with school, life, and Clark's love interest, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk).
His two best friends, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) and Pete Ross (Sam Jones III) also help him deal with these problems, even though everyone except Clark's parents are clueless about his powers and his destiny.
Smallville airs on The WB's new Tuesday at 8:00 PM, following Gilmore Girls.

NFL Game Day 2002
PS2 game scores big
By Nikki A.

NFL Game Day 2002 exceeds most football video games. It has a ton of really superior qualities. The graphic defense is the star feature, however, with much vivid detail.
What would a game be like without good graphics? Well, that question shouldn't be asked when playing this game.
The graphics are clear and detailed, from the stadium attributes to the glare on the helmets. Game Day 2002 even goes close up after each play to show everyone's reaction.
The graphics are excellent.
The sound is very good. Whether it be crowds cheering or background music, referees calling plays or coaches yelling, even bone crunching tackles, there is always sound that is accurate.
The play control is fairly easy. The players can do whatever desired when controlled correctly.
The only problem is that the ball is too easily intercepted.
Just for hint, if the ball keeps getting intercepted, check both teams' stats. If the other team catches well,or your team catches badly, then don't always try for those long passes.
The game play is great. From the play options to the plays themselves, this game has good game play.
Game Day 2002 doesn't get boring.

This game has a high fun factor. It’s hard to turn it off.
This game has a high fun factor. It's hard to turn it off. There is always a new and exciting match-up to try. It is fun for all ages.
The price range for almost all PS2 games is $30-$50. I got NFL Game Day 2002 for $50, but it is now selling for $40.
The number of players is 1-2, unless a multi-tap is owned which enables up to 8 players.
The challenge is adjustable.
NFL Game Day 2002 is definitely excellent.

Super Smash Brothers Melee is impressive
By John G.

Super Smash Brothers Melee is for Nintendo Gamecube.
If you played the first Super Smash Brothers on Nintendo 64, you'll know all twelve original characters, and they are in here too. I interviewed sixth grader Ernie Krause for some information.
Super Smash Brothers Melee is a game of about twenty-five of Nintendo's game characters coming to fight each other.
There are a lot of new characters, including four pokemon, two japanese characters, Mr. Gameandwatch, link, young link, four Mario characters, falco, and the ice climbers to name a few.
There are seventeen new items, thirty different and unique levels. You can even take snapshots of fights.
There's also a lot more single and multiplayer games. You can collect over 300 trophies.
Ernie and I highly recommend Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube.

Horoscopes for fun
By Karina D.

Aquarius (1/20- 2/18)
Hey! Life can be an enchantment if you live it right. This next two months will be a joy for you. They will go past quickly so don't forget to look around every once and while to see what is going on.
Pisces (2/19- 3/20)
Are you feeling down? Valentines Day will cheer you up. There is always plenty of time to be with friends and family. Do not overlook the people you feel you're not compatible with. Someone may just step into your life.
Aries (3/21- 4/19)
The new moon will find you dreaming of the stars. You better join the real world before you drift too far. Buckle down to school work after the new year. Now is the time to get serious and help your grades.
Taurus (4/20- 5/20)
Even though you are stuck on yourself, other people see the good side of you. Do not take advantage of this. Forget about the pretty face in the mirror and pay attention to those surrounding you.
Gemini (5/21-6/21)
Your sign is the twins for a reason. There is the outgoing and the introverted. Try to maintain a balance between the two, or others will form their own opinion of you. Follow your heart and you won't go wrong.
Cancer (6/22- 7/22)
You can't get everything you want. This was written in a famous song and it may just be labeled onto you. Always try your hardest but if you don't succeed, don't pout or complain. Just accept reality for what it is. Grow up!
Leo (7/23- 8/22)
So you're a lion huh? King of the jungle and all that? Well you are not as tough as you would like to think. Others see through your fine veneer. It's better to be yourself than to play a part that was not made for you. It makes you look like a fool.
Virgo (8/23- 9/22)
You are a shining star to someone in your life, and an angel to someone else. Make sure you don't blur the lines of difference to make them see a side of you that does not exist. Keep on doing good deeds for people you might not like and the lines will not blur.
Libra (9/23- 10/22)
The scales are your sign. Is it the scale of justice or your bathroom scale? Do not become obsessed with the numbers. You are better than that. It's ok to tell your secrets to a close friend, teddy bear, or even pillow. They will not betray you
Scorpio (10/23-11/22)
You are the type of person who likes the outdoors, but sometimes gets carried away. When the snow falls go outside and be yourself but don't forget about your friends who might not enjoy the outdoors as much as you. Eating snow is okay except when it is yellow, so be careful!
Sagittarius (11/23- 12/22)
Hey, it's your lucky month! Watch out for that secret box of chocolates!
Capricorn (12/23- 1/19)
Family and friends are important to you. So are your meals, your bed, and toys. What does that say about you? You're a normal teenager, enjoy it while you can. Turn up the bass, and volume dial up on your stereo, but not too loud because if you do, you will turn into the old hag you don't want to be.

Pikmin
By Alexandra B.

Have you ever worked so hard that you decided to take a vacation, and then ended up getting stranded on a strange uncharted planet after crashing into a meteor?
That's exactly what happened to Captain Olimar and alien in the new game for Nintendo GameCube, "Pikmin."
When Olimar got out of his mangled ship, he discovered that thirty parts were missing. He also discovered that he needed to replace all the parts of his ship before his energy tank runs out in thirty days.
When Olimar began to lose hope, he found a strange creature called a Pikmin. They get attached to anyone who pulls them from the ground and they work for him to help him find his parts.
This game is very challenging and you feel like you have to go faster because of the time limit of each day.
You also have to solve puzzles, like only yellow Pikmin can hold bomb-rocks, and only bomb-rocks can destroy rock walls so you have to gather certain Pikmin for certain jobs.
This game's difficulty can't be adjusted.
