By Pam R. Anne of Green Gables was written by L.M Montgomery. It was originally published in 1908 but it is still very popular. If you like books that have sequels, this is the perfect book for you. Anne of Green Gables has seven books that follow it. This book is about girl who finally finds someone to love her. Anne Shirley, who is the main character, was an orphan whom no one loved. Matthew and Marilla, who are siblings, are also important characters. Matthew had a bad heart, so he and Marilla decided to adopt a little boy to help out with the farm work. They sent for a little boy, but when Matthew went to the train station, that's not what he found. Much to his surprise, Matthew found a little girl with bright red hair and gray eyes waiting for him. He took her to Green Gables with him because he didn't have the heart to send her away, and he and Marilla decided to let her stay. Although Anne was accident prone, weird, talkative, absentminded, over-dramatic, and very self-conscious about her hair, they found out how kind, loving, and smart she really was, and they loved her with all of their hearts. Anne of Green Gables is definitely a classic. Even though it was written in 1908, it is just as good as the books written now. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would give this book a 4 because even though it's really long and hard to get into, you'll find that it was worth the effort. I recommend Anne of Green Gables to any girl who likes stories about people who have hardships, but triumph in the end. Email The Charger about this story.
