"New York Minute": Suprisingly Good Comedy
By Elizabeth R.

Before I saw New York Minute, I wasn’t expecting a very good performance, but it was better than I thought it would be.

Jane (Ashley Olsen) and her sister Roxy (Mary-Kate Olsen) are twins who are totally different from each other.

Jane’s GPA is 4.6 and Roxy’s is no where near that. In fact she is being chased by the county’s truancy officer.

Jane is neat, organized, and almost the “perfect person.” She has been practicing her speech to win a fellowship to Oxford University for later that day.
Roxy, on the other hand, is a sloppy, artistic, and disorganized person who plays the drums. One day, Roxy decides to skip school and see a video taping of A Simple Plan rock band.

The girls live outside New York City and take the train together to get to the speech and concert. They get kicked off the train and have to get to their destinations on their own. A stranger drops a computer chip into Roxy’s purse to avoid being detected by the cops.

Soon, Jane and Roxy are being chased by Bennie Bang (Andy Richter), who wants the chip. Meanwhile, Roxy is being chased by truancy officer, Max Lomax (Eugene Levy).

The two girls find all sorts of trouble on this journey. The most important discovery they find is how much they’ve missed each other. They learn to work things out and have an exciting day doing it.

Everyone who enjoys a comedy and happy endings should see this movie.

Crystal M.: "It was so bad I got up and left the theater to see another movie."

"Girl": All-Around Awesome!
BY: MOLLY C.

Samantha Madison is just your typical American, teenage girl living in Washington D.C. She is in the tenth grade, is madly in love with her older sister Lucy’s boyfriend, got caught selling drawings that she made of her classmates and their favorite celebrity, and her punishment for it was taking drawing classes at Susan Boone’s Art Studio. Okay, maybe she’s not so typical.
But you may be thinking, "How is drawing class a punishment for someone who loves to draw as much as Sam does?" Well, Sam doesn’t want to turn into another teen artist clone. She wants to be her own person, and if being her own person means ditching class to spend time in the record store below the studio then that’s exactly what Sam will do. Little did she know that inside that same record store was someone plotting to assonate the President of the United States. While waiting for her housekeeper to pick her up from “art class” the president’s limo pulls up and he walks into the cookie shop next door. Even though Sam lives in D.C. she’s very rarely even seen the president. When the person from the record store that's plotting to kill the president pulls out a gun Sam does the first thing that comes to mind: she jumps on the back of the him and pulls him to the ground, breaking her wrist in two places and sending the bullet meant to go through the president's head straight into the ozone layer. She gets sent to the hospital where she gets to meet the president and his family and get invited to a personal dinner for her and her family at The White House. While she’s at her special dinner the president’s son, David, wins her heart. Since she saved the president’s life she gets to spend more and more time at The White House and more and more time with David. You’ll have to read the book to see what happens next!
